FleetUp Raises $20 million in Funding and Welcomes Albert Son as New CEO
FleetUp Raises $20 Million for Global Expansion
We are in for some big changes here at FleetUp. In addition to raising $20 million in funding for North American and global expansion, we are bringing on new leadership to support the expansion effort. Albert Son, former chief strategy officer and president of HUMAX Americas, has joined the team as our new chief executive officer starting immediately.
HUMAX, the holding company of HUMAX Automotive, the leading in-vehicle infotainment and communications supplier for global automakers, has maintained a solid partnership with FleetUp, and led the latest round of funding as we focus on expanding our operations beyond borders.
Albert brings over 20 years of experience as a leading executive at HUMAX to the table, and will lead the executive team in leveraging our latest round of funding to focus on North American and global market expansion. A primary focus is Canada and Mexico as the 2019 Canadian ELD Mandate will be here before you know it, as announced by Canadian Transport Minister Marc Garneau on December 18, 2017.
“HUMAX believes in FleetUp’s potential to scale at an international level— so much so that we decided to place one of our top executives as the new CEO, and invest an additional $20 million in the company’s fleet technology solutions,” said Kim Tae-Hun, CEO of HUMAX. “With his vast experience in achieving global market excellence, we are confident in Albert’s leadership, and our growing partnership with FleetUp to successfully provide reliable compliance and management solutions to fleet managers worldwide.”
FleetUp was founded in 2013 with the goal of providing the fleet industry with a comprehensive, easy-to-use and quality ELD and intelligent fleet management solution. The company continues to successfully apply big data technologies to fleet management with a patented, FMCSA-compliant suite of integrated telematics and GPS applications that enable companies to maximize profitability, improve driver safety, and comply with current and upcoming regulations more effectively.
“We are thrilled to welcome Albert to our leadership team, and believe his expertise will be instrumental as we expand our operations beyond U.S. borders,” said Ezra Kwak, co-founder and CTO of FleetUp. “As FleetUp deepens its relationship with HUMAX, and as the adaption and adoption of fleet management solutions increases, FleetUp will be in the perfect position to address the growing needs of North American inter-, intra-, and metro fleets, as well as a growing list of vertical markets around the world.”
Albert has already taken the helm at FleetUp, working with the executive team to develop the best approach for expansion to our international neighbors. Our goal for 2018 is to grow beyond the United States borders and provide fleet managers abroad with effective solutions for ELD compliance and insight into their fleet operations worldwide.
